I am giving this cleanse another try. I did this over the summer and had to stop after two days because I was traveling. So after several weeks of dieting and then over indulging, I feel blah and ready for a much needed break from all of the crap I’ve been putting in my body. My birthday and my husband’s birthday are both in October so we have been celebrating a bit too much. I am ready to put the breaks on the celebrating and feel refreshed and “cleansed”. Surprisingly my husband has agreed to do this with me.
As I write this it’s 8:30 pm and I am at the end of day one. I have a pretty big headache and I’m feeling tired and a little foggy, but as of right now I’m not really hungry. My salad and salmon from dinner were delicious and very feeling. Here is the breakdown of today
Woke up at 6:45 am
7:00 am Hot Green Tea
8:30 am Starving! Chocolate Shakeology Shake
10:00 am Workout Circuit Training (shoulders, triceps, biceps, and legs) Great Workout!
11:00 am STARVING! I was going to skip the optional fruit but by this time I needed something so I had a handful of raspberries and a huge glass of water. This curbed my hunger for a little while
12:30 Hungry again and ready for my lunch shake. The shake did the trick and I felt better.
2:30 I was at a doctors appointment and my stomach was grumbling very loudly. I was so hungry. By the time I got home it was 3:15 and I was starved. However, even though the plan includes a third shake as a snack that would have been perfect right about then I decided to try and skip the extra calories and hold off for dinner. So instead I settled for hot green tea and lots of water.
5:30 pm I started chopping all the fresh toppings for my salad and had to snack on some of them while I chopped.
6:30 pm Dinner!! Yippee, real food! I made a huge salad with Spinach, Arugula, Red Bell Pepper, Yellow and Red Cherry Tomatoes, Hearts of Palm, Baby Corn, Green Onion, Celery, Carrots. I then baked a small piece of Salmon with three artichoke hearts on top and a little bit of Dijon Mustard. I wrapped the Salmon in foil and baked in the oven at 375 for about 20 minutes. It was really good!
Lots more water right now and then I plan on an early lights out. More tomorrow…..
Up at 6:45 this morning and headed straight to the bathroom….constantly need to pee on this cleanse, then to the scale. BOOO I didn’t really lose any weight yesterday. But that isn’t going to discourage me I am ready to stick out another day.
7:16 am: I am drinking hot green tea right now and hope to make it until closer to 9 to have my first shake.
8:45 am: Shake
9:45 am: Run with dogs….only 2.5 miles
11:30 am: Handful of yellow cherry tomatoes
12:00 pm: Shake
3:00 pm: STARVING so I had my second green tea
5:30 pm: Starting chopping for my salad and munched on a few radishes and tomatoes because I was so hungry
6:30 pm: Salad: Arugula, cherry tomatoes, 1/4 red bell pepper, 2 artichoke hearts, one heart of palm, sauteed white onion and jalapeno with 4 oz chicken and handful of spinach. 1 Tbsp light wasabi vinaigrette. This was very satisfying and I wasn’t hungry for the rest of the night.
LOTS of WATER all day long.
Lights out at 10 pm
Weigh in shows I’m only down about 3 lbs. That’s kind of a bummer!
8:30 am: Green Tea
3:30 Workout (circuit training: shoulders, tri, biceps, legs)
(Almost cheated and went to dinner with my husband….ALMOST!!)
6:00 pm Salad (chicken, radish, spinach, red bell pepper, artichoke, hearts of palm, sugar free balsamic vinaigrette)
WHEW….I made it! I couldn’t believe I actually made it all three days. It was really hard, especially the third day. My husband suggested we cheat and go to dinner…I refused and then two hours later I was trying to convince him we should go and he refused. Good thing he decided to stick it out one more night or I would have to once again write that I didn’t make it all three days.
To my disappointment I only lost 4 and 1/2 pounds to his 12 pounds, but I felt pretty good and I was proud of my will power and my husbands! Not sure this type of cleanse is really effective for losing weight for someone like me who wants to lose a few vanity pounds, but I do think it’s great for cleaning up your diet if you need that. I felt great each night going to bed early and waking up without that groggy foggy feeling like I often have after a day with either unhealthy eating or too much drinking. I worked out the entire time on this cleanse and I will admit the weightlifting on the last day was tough! I am so proud of my husband who has a lot of weight to lose right now and who also needs to clean up his diet, because he stuck this out and also finished with the perspective that he wanted to be healthier….and so far he’s really tried sticking to that. He hasn’t had caffeine in two days following the cleanse and he even started today with a shake. So maybe we will try this again every few weeks…what can it hurt?
